Cuban academic describes his visit to France as “fruitful”

Paris, April 17 (Prensa Latina) Cuban academic and deputy Eduardo Torres Cuevas concluded a week of work in France that he described as “fruitful”, the result of meetings held and opportunities to strengthen ties in various sectors.

“We can say that our expectations, which were to discuss ideas, develop or consolidate relationships and meet friends, were exceeded, and the environment was always conducive to being more ambitious in these objectives”, Torres told Prensa Latina.

Torres’ agenda in France included exchanges of criteria with the Alliance Française, UNESCO, the France-Cuba Friendship Group of the National Assembly, the France Cuba Solidarity Association and the Embassy of Cuba, among other activities.

According to Torres Cuevas, during the talks he verified the strength of Franco-Cuban ties and the prospects of promoting them in areas such as culture, science, cooperation and parliamentary ties.

Torres highlighted the talks to resume the normal work of the Alliance Française in Cuba after two years of setbacks resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic, and to guarantee the success of the fifth International Conference for the Balance of the World, which takes place will be held in Havana from January 24 to 28.

Regarding the conference, Torres clarified that it will have an important French presence, as a forum that he considers ideal to contribute to the dialogue of civilizations and the coexistence between peoples, as seen by the Cuban national hero José Martí.

“We have received support from UNESCO for this event, support that is the result of the excellent relations that (it) has with Cuba,” said Torres Cuevas, who met with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay. , and the Deputy Director of the Social Department. and Human Sciences, Gabriela Ramos.
