Paris (VNA) – Nine excellent Vietnamese students in France were awarded by the Union of Vietnamese Students in France (UEVF) and the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts (AVSE Global) at a ceremony held recently at the Embassy of Vietnam in Paris.
The Outstanding Vietnamese Student Awards in France are awarded annually, but the 2019 version was delayed until recently due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among the winners were Nguyen Minh Tuan, a major in mathematics and computer science from Ãcole Polytechnique, who won the undergraduate student award; Dinh Thi Lan Anh, lecturer at Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy, which won the Masters Degree and Doctor Lecturer Award; and Hoang Van Thuan who won the graduate researcher award.
On this occasion, the Embassy also awarded certificates of merit to the winners.
Speaking at the awards ceremony ceremonyVietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang expressed his hope that the excellent students studying in France will contribute to the development of Vietnam in the future.
The awards, first awarded in 2009, are sponsored by the Vietnamese Embassy in France and receive a warm welcome from the Vietnamese student community in France with a large number of applications sent from all over France. To date, more than 40 Vietnamese students and researchers have received these awards.
According to Nguyen Khanh Linh, president of the UEVF, the organization of the 2019 awards has received the support of many agencies and individuals. The jury was made up of prestigious professors, doctors, experts in France and scientists from AVSE Global. But due to the epidemic, the awards ceremony had to be postponed until this year, and in September the UEVF will announce the 2021 award for excellent Vietnamese student./.
