Heathrow: the beautiful seaside town with world-class cuisine and a spectacular New Year’s Eve fireworks display

For the second year in a row, London’s iconic fireworks display will not take place.

Instead, City Hall said “a number of exciting new options are being considered as part of our New Years celebrations in London,” adding that “as always, London will host the New Year in spectacular fashion” .

But if you can’t live without seeing a good ol ‘fireworks display, a vacation might solve your problems.

On the French Riviera, a city celebrates New Year’s Eve in style.

And the magnificent Beaulieu-sur-Mer has much more to offer.

The town of 3,500 inhabitants is ideally located between Nice and Monaco.

There is also a lot to do there, so you won’t be bored as New Years approaches.

Make sure your first sop is Villa Kerylos.

The villa is located in a beautiful setting

Designed and built in the early 1900s, the villa is based on what the noble houses of ancient Greece looked like.

For € 11.50 you can explore the authentically furnished and decorated villa and admire the magnificent ocean views.

“I have never been to such a nice place before,” said one TripAdvisor reviewer while another called it simply “amazing”.

And just below the villa, you will have the opportunity to see the sparkling blue water of the Promenade Maurice Rouvier up close.

The water is unbelievably blue

The promenade by the sea goes from Beaulieu to Saint Jean and is quite breathtaking.

It is used by locals, tourists and families and is a “relaxing” walk.

“It’s a really beautiful walk,” said one reviewer, adding that “it doesn’t cost a dime but I promise you will remember the views for a very long time.”

And on New Year’s Eve there are more spectacular views.

This little town turns for the new year

Although small, Beaulieu-sur-Mer is going all out for the New Year with a fireworks display in the center of town to remember.

The sky will light up with an explosion of colors that everyone can witness.

And when you get hungry after your adventures, head to Neighbors, a restaurant without bad reviews on TripAdvisor.

It’s the best in town and serves all kinds of seafood – their specialty is bouillabaisse for four!

Desserts don’t look bad either, with lavender creme brulee and pancakes flambé being two of the choices.

And if you fancy something more upscale, go to Michelin Guide listed The Reserve Table.

It is a “chic bistro” restaurant with an open kitchen where diners can see the magic happening in front of them.

Expect a roasted saddle of lamb, grilled octopus with chorizo and a duckling fillet.

The desserts are on display in the restaurant, so you will have to go and see for yourself.

“At La table de la Réserve, you are guaranteed a great experience,” one reviewer promised.

And it’s not just the food that’s great.

The restaurant is housed in the hotel The Beaulieu Reserve, which happens to be the highest ranked in town.

They promise “charm and luxury” and their guests agree, praising the “exceptional service” and the “unbeatable setting”.

How to get there

Flights from Gatwick to Nice last two hours non-stop.

From Nice airport, it takes either 20 minutes by car or 40 minutes by train and tram.
