Abu Dhabi: HE Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates inaugurated the “Feathers & Thoughts” exhibition yesterday, in the presence of HE Dr. Ali Bin Tamim, President of the Arabic Language Center at the Ministry of Culture and of Tourism – Abu Dhabi.

On this occasion, HE Zaki Nusseibeh declared: “We are happy that this innovative exhibition, which has been designed as a crossroads where the deepest forms of expression intersect in an innovative and intercultural spirit, has brought to light the depth intercultural relations between the Emirates and France. The Alliance Française of Abu Dhabi, established for almost half a century, has proven its ability to strengthen these distinguished fraternal relations and to build bridges between the Middle East and Europe, which realize the fruitful collaboration of Arab and Western cultures.
“The artist, Ayman Bazerbashe, excelled in highlighting Arabic-Islamic calligraphy through concepts linking image to concept, and letters to ideas. The quotes chosen belonged to many thinkers in the Middle East and even beyond, encompassing logic and philanthropy, hope and despair, happiness, modesty and virtue, which constitute wise heritage expressions and phrases who contribute to the preservation of the Arabic language and work to engrave it in the hearts of future generations,” he added.
For his part, Franck Trouilloud, director of the Alliance Française of Abu Dhabi declared: “It all started when a few months ago, when I discovered the creative work of Ayman Bazerbashe, a resident calligrapher in Dubai, inspired by a work based on a maxim written by Plato as part of an ancient dialogue: “Wisdom begins in wonder”, and that’s when the philosophical-calligraphic magic began. The result, breathtaking with grace and beauty, is not only a transcription into Arabic or an illustration of a philosophical thought: it embodies it and, by mixing disciplines and languages hitherto discordant, creates an artistic object totally new, at the crossroads of genres and cultures. From this incredible success, other calligraphies are born, forming a total of thirty original executions which are considered either as a form of an intelligence in movement, or as the reflection of the passage from a thought to its verbal form.
The exhibition “Plumes & Pensées ou L’âme du monde” will be held at the Alliance française d’Abu Dhabi from October 12, 2022, until January 31, 2023. The exhibition is an exhibition philosophical and calligraphic culture for all ages, art lovers, language students, the curious as well as connoisseurs of Alliances Françaises around the world. An educational booklet as well as calligraphy workshops will accompany it.
